군산시 철새조망대가 봄을 맞아 다양한 새들과 동물들을 가까이에서 체험할 수 있는 새로운 체험현장으로 부각되고 있다.
철새조망대에 따르면, 철새조망대 내에 설치한 새 먹이통을 비롯한 곳곳에서 다양한 산새들과 토끼 등이 어우러져 관람객들이 동물들을 가까이에서 체험할 수 있는 기회가 마련되고 있다고 16일 밝혔다.
철새조망대 관계자는 “지난 1월에 겨울철 산새들의 먹이부족에 대비하여 조망대 곳곳에 설치한 먹이통에 박새와 노랑턱멧새, 되새 등 다양한 산새들이 먹이를 찾아 내려오고 있다”고 말했다.
특히 철새조망대는 봄을 맞아 동물마을에서 사육하던 토끼들 중 일부를 조망대 내에 방사했는데 그 토끼들이 조망대 곳곳을 돌아다니면서 먹이를 찾는 모습이 관람객의 인기를 끌고 있다.
한성우 학예연구사는 “지난 1월부터 다양한 산새들이 먹이를 찾아 날아오고 있으며 조망대 내에 방사한 토끼들도 귀소 본능에 의해 멀리 이동하지 않고 조망대 주변에서 먹이를 찾고 있다”며, “이러한 모습이 관람객들의 눈에 쉽게 띄어 새로운 볼거리로 자리잡고 있다.”고 말했다.
