군산교도소 교정협의회(회장 정길수)는 23일 연말연시를 맞아 외롭게 겨울을 보내시는 어르신들을 위해 봉사활동을 벌였다.
정길수 회장을 비롯 20여 명의 교정협의회 회원들은 이날 추운 날씨에도 불구하고 대명동 소재 군산화물역 인근 무료급식소를 찾아 배식 봉사활동은 물론 설거지 등 사랑 나눔활동을 펼쳤다.
특히 이날 교정협의회 회원들은 정성껏 준비한 양말과 과일을 무의탁 노인 등 400여 명에게 전달했다.
정길수 교정협의회장은 “교정협의회는 순간의 실수를 범한 수용자들의 교화와 사회적응, 재범방지를 위해 다양한 활동을 벌이고 있다”며 “비록 짧은 시간이지만 소외된 노인들을 위해 급식 봉사활동을 하게 돼 보람되고, 앞으로도 이러한 봉사활동을 지속 전개할 계획”이라고 말했다.
한편 군산교도소 교정협의회는 수용자들의 교화와 사회적응을 위해 일일찻집, 교정위원과 재소자간 1대1 자매결연 등 다양한 활동을 벌이고 있다.
