군산교육청(교육장 문원익)은 5일 군산용문초등학교 강당에서 원어민영어교사, 미공군봉사자, 군산영어교사와 함께하는 초∙중학생 여름영어캠프 행사 일환으로 대원외고와 하버드대를 졸업한 공군(통역장교 중위 홍경원) 영어 자원봉사 선생님과 특별한 만남을 가졌다.
이날 특별한 만남에는 문원익 교육장을 비롯 원어민영어교사, 미공군봉사자, 군산영어교사, 학생, 학부모 등 150여명이 참석해 높은 관심을 나타냈다.
홍경원 선생님은 ‘특별한 공부방법 특강’이란 주제로 자신의 초∙중학교 시절과 대학시절에 공부경험 등을 재미있게 이야기했다.
특히 학생과 학부모, 자원봉사자 선생님과의 질의응답을 통해 학생과 학부모들이 가지는 많은 궁금증에 대해 자신의 견해를 진솔하게 대답했고, 무엇보다 학교의 다양한 특별활동과 수준별 수업이 도움이 됐다고 답변했다.
문원익 교육장은 “학생들이 다양한 영어캠프 활동을 통해 영어공부에 대한 흥미와 의사소통능력을 향상시키고, 글로벌 인재로 성장하는데 도움이 될 수 있도록 최선을 다해 지원할 것”이라며, “이같은 행사가 학부모들의 사교육비 경감에 기여하고, 학생들에게 ‘나도 할 수 있다’는 자신감과 꿈을 심어주는 계기가 될 것”이라고 말했다.
