군장대-한국해양대, 해양플랜트 인력양성 협약

군장대학(총장 이승우)은 지난 22일 한국해양대학교(총장 오거돈) 본부동 3층 회의실에서 양 대학 관계자 등이 참석한 가운데 한국해양대와 해양플랜트 전문 인력 양성을 위한 상호교류 협력에 관한 협정(MOU)을 체결했다.

해양플랜트 산업의 연간 부가가치 효과가 40조원, 고용창출 효과도 총 10만 명에 달할 것으로 예상되고 있는 가운데 탐사, 설계, 제작, 운반, 설치, 운용 등의 해양플랜트 전문 인력이 턱없이 부족한 현실에서 이에 대한 대비가 절실히 필요한 시점이다.

이에 국내 최초로 한국해양대에서 해양플랜트운용학과가 신설되어 해양플랜트를 운용할 수 있는 전문 인력을 양성하게 되었으며, 특성화 전문대학인 군장대학도 한국해양대와 협정 식을 갖고 해양플랜트 현장 실무 전문가를 양성하게 되었다.

주요 협약내용으로는 해양플랜트 전문 인력 및 훈련 등의 프로그램 공유, 세미나 및 워크숍 개최, 교육 연구 지원 및 공동 연구의 실행 등 해양플랜트 산업 발전에 서로 가치가 있다고 인정되는 사항에 대해 상호간에 적극 지원하겠다는 내용을 담고 있다.

이를 계기로 내년에 군장대 조선정보공학부 내에 신설되는 해양플랜트시스템과는 한층 더 내실 있는 교육을 할 수 있는 기반을 마련하는 한편 입학하게 될 신입생들에게 새로운 기대를 모으는 계기를 마련하게 됐다.

오거돈 한국해양대 총장은 “이번 협정으로 해양대가 갖춘 인력양성의 실제적 사례와 각종 인프라를 공유할 수 있게 되어 매우 기쁘다”며 “양 대학이 힘을 모아 해양플랜트 분야 인력 양성을 위한 선도적 역할수행에 힘을 모을 것”을 당부했다.

이승우 군장대 총장은 “해양 분야에 있어 세계적 수준의 한국해양대와 함께 공조 체제를 구축해 갈 수 있게 되어 매우 뜻 깊게 생각한다”며, 앞으로 상호 협력에 있어 소홀함이 없도록 최선을 다할 것임을 거듭 밝혔다.
