군산시 예비군 지역대(지역대장 송점방)가 7일 군산시청에서 전동운 35사단장(소장)과 문동신 시장 등이 참석한 가운데 창설식을 가졌다.
이번 지역대 창설은 그동안 예비군 조직 창설 이후 한 번도 변하지 않아 대대장이 지휘하는 예하부대 과다로 유사시 작전 지휘가 곤란하다는 점과 안보와 작전 환경 변화에 따른 현대화된 조직의 개편이 필요하다는 국방개혁 2020 계획에 따라 현역 대대와 예비군 중대 간 중간 제대로 신설된 것이다.
지역대는 앞으로 기동타격 부대를 편성∙조정하고 읍면동 단위의 예비군 중대를 시 단위 지역대로 확대하는 등의 조직정비를 실시할 예정이다.
이날 창설식에는 전동운 사단장으로부터 송점방 지역대장에게 부대기가 전달됐으며 지역대 창설에 노력을 아끼지 않은 시 관계자에게 감사장을 수여했다.
한편 군산시 지역대는 사병 3명과 군무원, 지역대장 모두 5명이 근무하며 읍면동의 중대와 대대의 중간역할을 하게 된다.
