시, 공항로 안전한 보행환경 조성

군산시가 공항로(비행장선) 소룡사거리에서 공항교차로 구간 보도 미설치 지역에 대해 보행자 불편 해소와 안전사고 사전예방을 위한 안전한 보행환경 공간 4.6km를 조성할 계획이다.

공항로는 일부 구간을 제외하고 그동안 보도가 설치되지 않아 보행자 불편은 물론 갓길 통행에 따른 대형 교통사고가 발생하는 등 보행안전 위험에 노출되어 있는 상태였다.

이번 보도설치는 물론 급커브 위험구간에 중앙분리대설치와 차선규제봉 등 안전시설을 대폭 보강하고 차도와 보도를 분리해 보행자는 물론 자전거 이용자에게도 안전한 통행공간을 제공 이용자 불편을 해소할 전망이다.

시는 이번 사업시행을 위한 사업비 22억원을 확보하고, 이 중 50%인 11억원은 국비를 지원받았으며, 현재 보행환경조성을 위한 실시설계가 마무리되어 6월중 공사 발주해 12월까지 완공목표로 추진할 예정이다.

시 관계자는 “이번 사업이 완료되면 보행자 안전사고 및 교통사고 예방은 물론 도로여건 개선으로 쾌적한 보행환경을 시민들께 제공할 수 있을 것”이라고 밝혔다.
