군산시가 자연친화적, 친농업적인 도시농업기반 조성을 위해 추진해 온 ‘푸른도시 만들기’사업을 올해에도 신규 7개소를 설치, 운영에 돌입한다.
시는 지난해 사업 중 ‘환경친화형 골목길’ 사업지역의 주민들의 호응도가 높은 점을 감안해 올해에는 환경친화형 골목길 시범사업을 전략적으로 육성하기로 하고 연초 도심동 14개 지역을 대상으로 응모 및 심사를 거쳐 최종 7개소를 선정했다.
7개소에서는 사업지역의 분위기, 테마와 어울리는 환경 조성을 위해 원광대학교 원예학과 박윤점 교수의 컨설팅 및 자문을 얻고 해당지역 주민의 협조아래 지난 5월 사업지역 조성을 순조롭게 완료했다.
박윤점 교수는 “해당지역의 골목 특성에 맞는 테마를 정하고 다르게 표현하고자 하였으며 각 지역마다 볼 수 있는 흔한 나열식 화분배치가 아니라 과감한 화종선택과 디자인으로 군산만의 특징이 있는 골목길을 조성하고자 했다”고 밝혔다.
시 관계자는 “주차문제와 관리소홀문제로 방치하기 쉬운 골목길을 아름답게 조성하는 것 이외에도 해당 골목길 주민들이 합심하여 골목길조성에 참여한다는 주민 참여형 도시농업을 같이 이루는데 큰 의미가 있다”고 전했다.
한편 ‘푸른도시만들기’ 사업은 도시민을 대상으로 소비자 참여형 농업을 실현하기 위한 것으로 지난 2009년에는 도시민들을 위한 환경친화형 골목길과 도시민 생태소공원 조성을 통해 도심속에서의 아름답고 친환경적인 생활환경을 가꾸고 좀 더 도시속 환경농업과 가까이 할 수 있는 여건을 조성하도록 기획된 사업이다.
2009년에는 중앙동, 나운1동, ‘도시민 생태 소공원’은 중앙동, 흥남동, 조촌동, 나운1동, 나운3동 등 5개 지역에서 처음으로 시행됐다.
