구암동 자생단체·주민센터, 명품군산교육 동참

장학금 360만원 기탁

호남 최초 3·5독립만세운동 발원지인 구암동 자생조직 및 주민센터(동장 정진수) 직원들이 명품교육도시 군산을 만드는데 써 달라며 장학금 360만원을 군산교육발전진흥재단에 10일 기탁했다.

이번 장학금 기탁은 구암동 주민자치위원회(위원장 조봉구)를 비롯한 통장협의회(회장 채희석), 부녀회(회장 김봉임), 새마을협의회(회장 허용환), 바르게살기운동협의회(회장 오원택), 자율방범대(대장 이용구) 등 6개 자생조직 단체와 주민센터 직원들이 군산교육발전 공감대를 형성하면서 이뤄졌다.

신역세권개발과 구암동산성역화사업 등으로 군산 동부권의 녹색성장을 선도하고 있는 구암동은 평소 사회적 돌봄이 필요한 홀몸노인과 저소득층 등 취약계층 지원에 적극 나서고 있다.

또한, 동 직원 및 주민 등의 자발적인 후원으로 지역아동센터를 매월 지원하는 등 따뜻한 이웃사랑을 실천하고 있다.

조봉구 주민자치위원장을 비롯한 자생조직 단체장들은 “구암동의 장학금 기탁이 군산교육발전을 염원하는 시민들에게 밑거름이 되어 더욱더 많은 장학금이 답지했으면 좋겠다”고 말했다.

문동신 재단 이사장은 “경제적으로 어려운 가운데서도 교육발전에 관심을 갖고 장학금을 기탁해 준 구암동 자생단체 및 직원들에게 감사하다”고 말했다.
