군산세관, 세관선 운용자 교육

이상민 군산대 해양과학대학 교수 초청

군산세관(세관장 정종기)은 24일 세관선 운용직원의 직무능력 향상을 위한 외부전문가 초빙교육을 실시했다.

2011년도 세관선 기본운영계획의 일환으로 진행된 이번 교육은 이상민 군산대 해양과학대학 교수를 초청해 이뤄졌다.

이 자리에서 이 교수는 선박이 육상의 운송수단과는 달리 해상의 특이성을 수반하고 있기 때문에 안전사고 예방을 위한 지속적인 정비, 보수의 중요성을 강조했다.

특히 부주의에 의한 작은 실수가 대형 해난사고로 이어질 수 있음을 인식하고, 사전 점검 및 안전수칙 준수와 기상악화에 따른 운항가능 여부는 세관선 선장의 전문적인 지식과 객관적인 해상상황을 고려해 안전을 최우선으로 판단토록 했다.

군산세관 관계자는 “앞으로도 밀수 및 테러물품의 밀반입 방지를 위한 해상감시활동을 적극 수행하면서 단 한건의 해상 안전사고도 발생하지 않도록 안전운항 관련 특별교육을 지속적으로 실시하는 등 최선의 노력을 다해 나갈 것”이라고 말했다.
