이날 회의는 오는 8일부터 월명종합경기장 등 관내 일원에서 펼쳐지는 군산새만금축제에 대비해 질서 위반사범과 주차시설 부족에 따른 불법주차, 소매치기 절도사건 발생 등 행락질서 유지를 위한 대책을 논의하고자 개최되었다.
경찰은 월명종합운동장에 임시치안센터를 개설하고 강력형사를 배치하는 등 가용경력과 장비를 최대한 동원해 즉응태세를 완비하고 시청, 유관기관과 합동으로 순찰, 호객행위 및 부당요금 징수행위를 단속하는 등 상시 긴밀한 협조체제를 유지하기로 했다.
