경북 혁신도시 명칭과 동일한 공모작을 당선작으로 확정해 허술한 심사논란(군산미래신문 2007년 9월21일 최초보도)이 야기됐던 군산지역 산업단지의 애칭이 ‘군산 인더스토피아’로 확정됐다.

군산시와 군산단지혁신클러스터추진단은 군산지방산단, 군산·군장국가산단을 총칭하는 애칭 공모작에 대한 심사결과 ‘군산 인더스토피아’를 당선작으로 선정했다.

인더스토피아는 기업하기 좋은 도시를 의미하는 산업(Industry)과 유토피아(Utopia)의 합성어다.

우수작에는 ‘Mega-Tech Valley’ 1명, 장려작은 ‘가온누리’ 등 총 75명을 선정하고 당선작은 100만원, 우수작은 50만원, 장려작은 각각 20만원을 지급하기로 했다.

군산클러스터추진단은 오는 29일 오후 추진단 3층 포럼실에서 당선작 및 장려작 선정자에 대한 시상식을 가지 예정이다.

한편 군산지역 산업단지 애칭은 지난해 9월 공모, 총 1136개 작품이 접수돼 당시 ‘군산드림밸리’를 당선작으로 선정했으나 경북 김천 혁신도시의 명칭인 경북드림밸리에 대한 상표출원중이라는 군산미래신문 보도를 계기로 알려지면서 시상식이 취소됐었다.

전에는 무슨 밸리라고 골짜기도 없는 허허벌판을 놓고 골짜기(Valley) 운운하는 이름을 선정하더니 이제는 무슨 피아니 무슨 토피아니 하는 한물간 식상한 이름을 또 뽑았네.
그리고 그렇게도 꼭 "인더스트리"와 "유토피아"라는 써야만 하겠다면 차라리 부르기나 쉽게 "군산인더피아"라고 줄이기라도 하지.
